I saw this gentleman
intent on photographing a Yellow Crowned Night
Heron at Ding Darling. The Night Heron was
serenely undisturbed by a human with a camera. |
The man struggles
with his tripod and camera, intent on changing
lenses. |
Bored with posing,
the Night Heron casually steps into the water and
walks past the photographer, just inches away.
The man can't focus close enough, and misses the
shot. |
Ten feet further
down, the Night Heron prepares to enter some
cover. There's just too big a crowd here today. |
I had to underexpose
this a couple of stops to keep the shutter speed
high enough to avoid camera shake. Kodak Max 800
has wide exposure latitude. I lost color
intensity, but not image detail. |
These were grab
shots. I stepped out of the car to look around,
quite unprepared to take pictures. No camera, no
tripod, no monopod. I saw the event unfolding,
quickly grabbed a PZ1p and 300/4.5, and banged
away. |
